ABOUT

Autism Learning Partners Orange County employs the most recent Applied Behavior Analysis findings to develop specific programs that address the needs of your specific child. We work with you to help you implement behavior programs and teach positive behavioral support, as well as providing ongoing assistance to both you and your child’s siblings and other family members. We take pride in having a qualified staff of thoroughly trained and highly educated Board Certified Behavior Analysts and Ph.D. personnel that have an in-depth history of ABA experience. All of the programs offered by ALP are based on scientifically proven methods that are crucial for developing social skills and language. These programs are designed to change and evolve as the child grows. We focus on helping both the child and parents. ALP is dedicated to teaching parents proactive and reactive teaching strategies that can be helpful while working with children on the entire Autism/behavioral spectrum. Our goal is to teach parents ABA therapy and allow them to understand and implement the ABA teaching strategies.

OUR SERVICES

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is direct 1:1 therapy and widely recognized as the most effective treatment for individuals with autism. ABA services are provided in the home, community and school!

Social Skills Classes

We believe that achievement in the domain of social interaction greatly improves the quality of life for a learner and we place a premium on screening, assessment, and individually tailored interventions. Social skills classes are available throughout the year. Contact us to secure a slot.

Parent Training

Parent Training is available and is designed to teach parents techniques to reinforce skills that your child is learning in therapy by incorporating them into his or her daily routines. As with any skill, practice is key. Your child is with his or her therapist for only a small part of each day, so if lessons aren’t practiced at home, or if the child’s home experience is greatly different from what happens in therapy, it will take much longer to learn and reach goals.

Positive Behavior Support

autism speech therapy
We work on reinforcing appropriate behaviors and maintaining those behaviors while extinguishing inappropriate behaviors.

Counseling

Our counselors are comprised of Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Interns and a Professional Counselor Intern. Furthermore, our counselors have an array of clinical experience, although share a uniqueness in that they have extensive training and experience, and/or specialty in working with individuals and families affected by Autism and related disorders. Thus, they are also Behavioral Therapists, Behavioral Specialists and/, or Board Certified Behavioral Analysts.

“Catch-up” Programs/School Shadows

Support in the school setting and shadowing is designed to help a child that might need more support during school hours. In the school setting we focus on reducing challenging behavior so that student can access the curriculum and we also have an opportunity to work on social skills. Many children have challenging behaviors that manifest in the school setting because more demands are placed in school. Shadowing offers the opportunity to work on extinguishing these inappropriate behaviors while teaching appropriate replacement behaviors. A great example of a skill we might teach would be gaining attention appropriately with peers.

Self-Help Programs: Toilet Training, Eating, etc.

Our ultimate goal is to teach a child independence! We implement various techniques to work on self-help skills, ranging from toilet training to washing hands, eating and teaching bedtime routines.
