Kara Wozniak

MA, BCBA-LBA
Clinical Director

Kara has her Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from Daemen College and a Masters Degree in applied behavior analysis from The University of Cincinnati. Kara began working in the field of ABA as a 1:1 behavior technician in 2013 and started with Autism Learning Partners as a behavior technician in 2014. She quickly gained experience working with different developmental disabilities and mainly Autism Spectrum Disorders across numerous setting such as in home, schools, communities, etc. Kara became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2016 and obtained her New York State Licensed shortly after that. In 2017, Kara became the Associate Clinical Director of our Buffalo, NY region and now has transitioned to the Clinical Director role of our three New York regions and our Maryland region. Kara reports that her passion for the field has grown through her years here at ALP due to ALP’s commitment to their core values they exude to their staff and the clients that form the ALP community. She most values the lessons and connections she made when working 1:1 with clients as a behavior technician and strongly feels that she is better able to appreciate everyone on her team’s hard work because of this. Kara believes that working as a team and involving parents in their child’s progress will help each client reach their full potential. There is no better feeling than seeing a client progress and how proud that makes each employee and caregiver involved.

    East Amherst FAQs

    • How long does the diagnostic process take?

Once the referral and insurance verification is obtained, the evaluation process typically takes 1-2 weeks.

    • Does my child need an autism diagnosis to get ABA services?

Insurance companies will authorize Applied Behavior Analysis services when a child has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). If your child does not have a diagnosis of ASD, you can choose to pay for services privately.

    • What are the next steps now that my child has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder?

If your child is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, our team will work with your family to secure Applied Behavior Analysis services. We will assist your family in getting approval for a Functional Behavior Assessment. This includes an assessment evaluating the function of your child’s behavior, a first step in developing a comprehensive behavioral treatment program.

    • Can my BT drive my child around, if needed?

No. Your Behavior Technician can accompany your family for a clinically recommended trip in a family vehicle. BTs are prohibited from driving the child in any vehicle, even if a parent or guardian is present in the car.
