Sarah Torgrimson is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has worked in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis for 12 years in a variety of settings.
Sarah started doing 1:1 therapy while she was in college at the University of California, Irvine after working at a summer camp and having a child in her group who was diagnosed with Autism.
Her mother was a special education teacher and she had mentioned that this might be something that she was interested in, and boy was she right! After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sarah started working at Children’s Learning Connection doing 1:1 therapy and fell in love with the philosophy and model.
While continuing to work at CLC, Sarah attended Chapman University where she obtained her Masters in Psychology and utilized other types of behavioral therapies for a wider variety of mental health disorders in adults, but in the end, working with children is her passion.
She values integrating a family systems approach with ABA during direct therapy sessions, social skills groups, and parent training and believes that by through delicate observation and by listening to the families she can help each child reach their fullest potential.
Sarah recently relocated to San Diego to assist CLC/PCFA/ALP in their newest startup operation. She is excited about this opportunity and is excited to see what amazing things San Diego has to offer.
Parents always say to me “I don’t know what you can work on or how you can help us,” my answer to them is “almost anything! Anything that you see as a problem for you, your family, or your child we can set up a plan to help.” Programs often include skills related to toilet training, brushing teeth, meal times, tolerating siblings, going to the grocery store, stranger danger, communication, leisure and play skills, social skills… I can go on and on..”
I serve as the Associate Clinical Director for the ALP North County San Diego region. I am a graduate of Florida State University where I obtained a Master of Science degree in Psychology with a specialty in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). I have been practicing as a BCaBA since 2009 and as a BCBA since 2015.
My experience includes, supervising and training individuals who work with children with special needs. My passion is working with clients on the autism spectrum. I have had the pleasure of working with clients across ages, from the age of two to sixty-two years of age. I’ve worked with clients in the home, in clinics, schools, group homes and community-based programs. My favorite part of the job is working with children and watching their progress and growth through time as well as learning from them! I have learned the most interesting facts from our kiddos; from how tiny our planet is compared to others in the universe and to learning about some of the most terrifying extinct dinosaurs one could ever imagine! In my spare time, I enjoy going out on date nights with my husband and watching horror films. I have two dogs, an 8 pound chiweenie named Taco and a beagle named London.
